Intro to Ayurveda

Ayurveda is a sister science to Yoga.  It involves lifestyle and dietary suggestions based on your unique body make up or doshas.  The ancient people who developed Ayurveda were keen observers of nature and of the 5 elements. By learning what doshas are dominant in your constitution and by   understanding the qualities that balance them, we can prevent illnesses from taking hold or at least lessen their severity. Prevention is key!  If you would like to learn more, consider attending a workshop or retreat where I  offer an interesting subject in-depth, often with some delicious foods to try.

Try this dosha quiz at Banyan Botanicals to get an idea what doshas are dominant in your constitution.

Seasonal Ayurvedic Cleanses

Seasonal cleanses happen in the spring and fall. It is a 10 day process that gently
detoxes the body and gets us ready for the next season. It balances the doshas and is
so important for prevention of disease and helps us have vibrant health!

How Do I Know I Need to Do a Seasonal Cleanse?

-An inability to loose weight
-Digestive issues like gas, bloating, constipation, loose stool, heartburn
-Tiredness or lethargy due to not sleeping well
-Achiness or body pain
-Headaches
-Feeling down and uninspired
-Skin problems like rashes or acne
-Fuzzy thinking

What Can A Seasonal Cleanse Do for Me?

-Boost immunity
-Reduce inflammation
-Better sleep
-Improved digestion
-Wieght loss
-Brightens skin
-Mental clarity
-Increase energy
-Reduce cravings
-A great way to for beginners to dive into the Ayurvedic Lifestyle
-Feel vibrant, happy and inspired

This is a 10 day process. It can be modified to be longer or shorter. It consists of 3 pre-cleanse days and 2 post-cleanse days and the 5 days in the middle is when we eat a mono-diet of kitchari which is a stew of rice and mung beans, ghee (or coconut oil), digestive spices and cooked vegetables. The mono-diet allows the body and sense to rest and work on releasing the toxins built up in the last season.

Additional Lifestyle Practices:
-Daily oil massage to detox the skin and body
-Putting screens away at 8pm
-Moderate exercise only

What the Cleanse is NOT:

-It’s not about suffering and being hungry
-It’s not about trying to be perfect
-And you won’t be doing any enemas or other rough treatments for the body

What the an Ayurvedic Seasonal Cleanse IS:

A time for you to reset habits that may not be serving you
A time to rest and take care of yourself in a nourishing way
A time to detox and restore yourself
physically and mentally

In Truth:

-You may experience some fatigue, headaches, boredom, constipation which can be a part of
the detox process
-The cleanse works best when we can let go of our unhealthy habits for the time being. Who
knows-you may have less interest in them after taking a break from them!

But in the end your efforts will pay off in vibrant health!!

What do you receive when you do a Seasonal Cleanse with me?

-a half hour consultation to make sure the cleanse is tailored to your current
circumstances and health status.
-Recipes and handouts so you feel supported every step of the way.
-Daily emails to remind you of what to expect
-A community meal to meet everyone and get community support. An endeavor like this
is so much easier with other people!
-2 Zoom meetings to check in and see how things are going.

Thank you for your interest in an Ayurvedic Consultation!

To begin, I recommend starting with a package of three sessions:

1. Initial Session

I’ll send you some questionnaires to fill out in advance. During our first meeting, we’ll explore your health goals and I’ll assess your current state of well-being from an Ayurvedic perspective.

2. Follow-Up & Personalized Plan

In our second session, I’ll share a customized treatment plan designed to support your unique doshic constitution, current imbalances, and personal goals. This may include lifestyle and dietary suggestions to help balance your doshas and digestive fire (agni). I might also recommend herbal remedies if appropriate. You’re always free to decide what feels right for you—there’s no pressure to follow every recommendation.

3. Progress Check-In

About a month later, we’ll meet again to see how you’re doing. We’ll evaluate what’s working, what isn’t, and make any necessary adjustments to your protocol.

All three sessions, including the treatment plan and support, are available as a package for $150.

Please feel free to reach out with any questions or to schedule your first appointment—I’d love to support you on your wellness journey.
